This entry serves to validate the following:

1.  The importance of writing the correct address on postcards

2.  The importance of keeping postcard messages simple and omitting personal feelings

Here's the text of the postcard:

Greeting for Hong Kong!!!

Hi Sweetie!  First, I miss you, miss you, miss you!  Much!!!  Remember you suppose to hang out with me before I go back to Davis.  I am coming back on the 30th!  Any plans for new year yet?  Don't forget about me!  Remember that flattering line you use on me "Everytime I see a pretty girl pass by I only think about Claire."  hehehe  I told Frank that you have better lines than he does...he said that your line is old school.  hehehe.  Well, Frank and I broke up...like I told you before I don't think we can survive the distance and I just having a really bad year with relationship.  I'll be laying it low for awhile.  Therefore, we single wild party animals can continue to have fun for a little longer.  See you soon!  Take cares!  Truly, Claire.

Claire - First of all, Johnny does not live at 137 Ladera Street, I do.  Secondly, I think the reason why you're having a bad year in terms of relationships is because you told your boyfriend that another man uses better pick up lines than he does.

Johnny - Buddy, looks like your timing couldn't be better!  Here's your chance to crash the boards!  The girl just broke up with Frank.  Get in there and make it happen.  Love the pick up line!

Poon Power!

Nachooooooooooooooooooo!

So 3 more days til Nacho Libre opens in theatres....

I've made arrangments to watch the movie with Nacho Salgado himself at the AMC Theatre at the Grove on Thursday night, June 15.  So for those who know Greg, please come out.  The showtimes are at 10PM, 10:15PM, and 12:20AM (Nacho prefers the 12:20 showing).

Nacho will be wearing his cape and Mexican wrestling mask and prancing around in his blue tights...

Here's me and Nacho at Pauley Pavilion...

See you on Thurs!

Nachooooooooooo!

Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West

Many people have been asking me about a picture in Friday's (May 5) LA Times.  A few weeks ago, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa (Tony V) sponsored a 5K Run for Victim's of domestic and gang violence.  The Mayor actually ran the race and beat me at the finish line.  Last Friday, my boss (Bill Fujioka, the Mayor's Financial Advisor and one of the top 5 highest salaried City officials) found this picture in the LA Times and sent an email to the entire office about how I got whupped by the 53 year old Mayor and several kids.  When I walked into the office, I found all my co-workers laughing.  Thought it was kinda weird.  Then I turned on my computer and saw that I had 30 emails, the first email being the one from my boss and the other 29 being responses to my boss's email.  Apparently, the picture in the newspaper takes up half a page and my boss's email has been circulating all through the Mayor and Council offices.

I think the Mayor should be tested for steroid usage and while we're at it, might as well test those kids too.  Notice how the boy behind the Mayor is effortlessly running!

This is the license plate of the car that I park next to each day at work.  I've been telling Brian about it since he loves the word "fat" and today I remembered to bring my camera.

Am I the only one who thinks that Jack Black in "Nachos Libre" looks alot like Greg Salgado?

Can't wait til June 16th to watch this movie!

Some other updates:

1.  I'm off to Costa Rica this summer for a two-week missions trip.  We'll be working with a local missionary family to build houses, work in local orphanages, and teach VBS.  You can read about our trip at http://www.xanga.com/NewsongLACostaRica.  If you also want a copy of my support letter, give me a call or email me your mailing address (wilsonkpoon@gmail.com).  Our team is really small so each member has more responsibilities and tasks.  I've been designated the team worship leader and medic (looks like our team will be singing 5 songs over and over again).  Please pray for our team.

2.  So a few days ago I got this letter:

A few days later, I got another letter from USC saying that this letter was sent in error and that my application is still under consideration.  Booo USC!

3.  Many have been asking me about my firefighter dreams.  After 5 years on the waiting list, I finally got called for the job this past January.  When I met with my fire background investigator, she asked me why I was pursuing this job since a college education is not required for the job and she noticed I was currently making twice the salary of a firefighter.  I told her my story and asked her what she would do if she was in my situation.  She explained how she had aspirations to be a police officer (she also graduated from some Ivy League school and had a masters in criminal justice), but she chose a desk job instead.  She currently works as a background investigator/recruiter for the FBI.  She said that it would be difficult for me to transition from a professional working environment to a blue collar work environment.  I took her advice and declined the job offer.  I hope I never regret this decision.
